Question: “What DOES happen when Rocky has sugar?”
Answer: Rocky’s reaction to sugar happens in about 3 stages.
Stage 1:
If Rocky gets a fair amount to sugar into his system, the sudden ‘rush’ of energy from it first causes physical symptoms such as dilating pupils, shaking hooves, muscle spasms and ear twitches, and an usual sense of light-headedness. This causes him to panic, which makes him sweat and his mane ‘poof’ as it always done when he’s stressed or scared. Also, he may or may not have lost his sense of balance and will stumble drunkenly into anything within 5 feet of him.
Stage 2:
Depending on the amount of sugar, Rocky will experience stage two, where his pessimistic brain becomes overwhelmed with the sudden spike of dopamine, and he suddenly feels unnaturally happy. And by that, I mean he smiles uncontrollably ( no, literally, his facial muscles won’t move), and everything he says sounds eerily chipper and high strung. He’s like a crazed psychotic clown creep who’s internally screaming because he currently has no control over his body what so ever and no body understand why he just randomly bursts out laughing like what a creep.
Stage 3:
Fortunately for Rocky, stage 2 doesn’t last more than a few hours after consuming the sugar. However, the sugar high always ends with his body rejecting the filthy white poison and and him with the nearest barrel or bush. Seriously, his body cannot digest the sugar. Why do you think he avoids the stuff like the plague?
So yeah, there’s the detailed, probably-more-complicated-than-it-needs-to-be answer.
And for those wondering why I didn’t make Rocky’s reaction as ‘Super Hyper Party Mode’ like some artists do for their more monotone pie children, I didn’t do so for two reasons. One, it’s been done before, and while seeing Rocky act wildly out of character would be fun, I don’t want to seem like I’m copying some formula. And secondly, Rocky’s one of my more grounded and realistic characters, and I felt like a more realistic reaction would suit him. I mean, how would your body respond if it ingested a physical and mental altering foreign substance that it’s unaccustomed too?
So while this scenario is less comical, I hope it’s at least an interesting interpretation of the concept. Wink/Razz
And who knows, I might play around with this a bit more in the future. . .
