Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Aqua pony

For years I’ve planned on making a KH Aqua custom, and had a generation 3 pony base set aside for one but never got around to making her… since the release of KH3 though I felt like getting in the grove of making KH custom ponies once again and figured I’d kick things off with finally making Aqua. I feel this generation 4 princess base suits are far better than a generation 3 so perhaps it was best that I waited.

Her pony base is a China bootleg fakie of Nightmare Moon. Base was coated in white gesso to give the acrylic paint work a texture to bond to, full body repaint in sunkissed peach acrylics, eyes painted in my expressionism style. All paint work sealed in Artists Varnish.

Mane and tail are rooted in nylon mlp dollyhair in the colors blue moon and forget-me-not. Styled with a hair dryer and then permanently styled in hair gel method.
Her corset, leggings and shorts are all cut from a thin faux black vinyl, hand stitched with varied silver vinyls for her shoes, and front leg armor. I dyed her blue skirt with Rit Dye, hand stitched it in place then detailed it in varied white ribbons. Used wide white ribbon for her front sleeves, painted the blue pieces of armor with 2 shades of metallic blue acrylics, the round detail is a gold rhinestone with a strip of black leather wrapped around it and her pink strap details are ribbon, chest piece is cut from silver vinyl, detailed in acrylic paint. Gloves are sewn from 2 different textures of silver vinyl.

Her keyblade I did only for the sake of completion cause I knew people would pop up asking why I didn’t make it and tell me that I should have. But I don’t have the right machines to make keyblades proper, so I did what I could to at least make it salvageable and I decided to include it with her if she displayed okay with it. But it was a pain, I hated it and I heavily considered just putting it in the trash. I just don’t have the right materials and tools/machines to make them right. And I’m probably not going to be able to afford to have those things for a bit of a while still.

So I ended up gluing strips of leather pieces around wooden dowels and then painting them. The handle has strips of aluminum flashing, and the key head is all tiny pieces of of cut up flat wooden dowels glued together and then painted. Handle has a blue chain attached, with a blue bead wired to it with a strip of black leather wrapped around.
