After years of grief due to witnessing her loved ones, friends and family alike pass away to age and such, Princess Twilight Sparkle descends into madness. Until one day, her emotions get to her and turn her into Midnight Sparkle, the dangerous and evil version of herself. Because the elements of harmony are long gone (spoilers by the way in Season 9), they can't help defeat her so it's up to a new generation of ponies to save her before it's too late, only the magic of friendship can defeat her.
