"Dad, help!" Fancy looked up to see his daughter being held by his sister. Fleur had a look of pure deviousness, so he knew it was in his best interest not to get involved. Seeing her father looking away, Crescent let out a whine. "Auntie Fleur wants me to wear make up again!"

"I think you'd look lovely like that darling." He replied, hoping he could get out of there. He knew his daughter hated that stuff but his sister was a mare who refused to let her niece leave the house looking any less than her best.

"See, even your father agrees." He heard Fleur gloat, the sound of struggling drawing his attention. The two were embracing, though he could tell Fleur was keeping Crescent in place. Nearby, his son watched, his smile wide and innocent. Seeing her baby brother, Crescent reached out a hoof, hoping for rescue.

"L-Lapis?" She called out. "You won't leave me to suffer, will you?"

"Sister, I think you'd look nice." He replied, he too knowing that fighting Aunt Fleur was a waste of time and it was better to just give in. "I've never see you wear it so" The doorbell rung and Fancy took his chance to escape.

"Oh, would you look at that, theres the bell." He said, trotting away as the struggle continued. "I'd best go and answer that."

"Ugh, all of you are horrible ponies!" Crescent called out, her cries echoing through the hall. "Betrayers, all of you!"

Still amused by the conflict he'd left behind, Fancy got his mail and went through it with a smile on his face until he spotted an interesting letter. One with a crest, which meant it was a noble pony who'd sent it. The curious part was that it was addressed to Crescent. Fancy knew his daughter well, so he knew that she didn't like Canterlot ponies in general. So why was this pony contacting her?

Curiosity got the better of him and he opened the letter, reading it as he walked.

'To whom it may concern,
It's come to my attention that'

As Fancy read on, he felt his heart drop. Especially after he read the last line. This pony… was Crescent's mother? Could it be true? Thinking of that pony, he could see it but there were so many other questions. Most pressing was, should he tell Crescent? She was his daughter in all ways but blood and he loved her dearly. He knew she felt little desire to see her mother, since she'd been abandoned and left for dead but the letter claimed there was more to the story. That Crescent would understand if they could just meet and talk.

Fancy truly wanted to hide the letter, burn it if need be but… even though Crescent claimed to want nothing to do with her really mother, to hide this from her would be…

Long ago, a certain pony got pregnant and attempted to ride themselves of that foal after it was born. That foal, despite being left to die, survived and wandered the streets until it attempted to rob a well known Fashionista. That Fashionista took the foal in and loved it with all her heart, even though the foal was fairly jaded. The foal was happy and grew to love its new family.

But everything changed when that certain pony noticed a foal that looked suspiciously like themselves. Wanting to get to know the foal they gave up, they sent a letter to it, wanting to talk.

Such is the tale of Crescent Moonstone, whom was adopted by Rarity and Fancy when she was a foal. She is fairly happy living with them but knows somewhere out there, her 'real' mother lives in Canterlot. She hopes not to ever meet the mare but her father might make such a meeting happen.
