Introducing King Galaxias, uncontested ruler of Equestria, father to current rulers Celestia and Luna, and the only known male alicorn in Equestrian history. Crafted by the Great Creators from a nebula destroyed by a black hole, this magnificent, imposing stallion is a formidable figure to say the least. He can be rather threatening in demeanor to his subjects, but in all reality this is far from the case. To the inhabitants of his castle, he is firm, but soft-spoken and understanding. To his beloved wife, fellow ruler Queen Nova, and his little princesses, Celestia and Luna. The King is not afraid to show affection towards his family, even if its usually in the form of a soft, proud smile or pat on the head. Finding different ways to make his daughters laugh is one his favorite pastimes. He and Royal Adviser, draconequus Disarray, have been known to even put on little plays for their children's delight.
King Galaxias was charged with raising the moon and stars each evening, bringing coolness and peace over the land of Equestria. He and the Queen were beloved leaders Equestria flourished under their rule in a long-forgotten part of history. Eventually, he began to pass on the task of raising the moon to his daughter of the eve, Luna (with whom he was arguably closest with). Though Luna encountered a few more setbacks than her sister's raising of the sun, his pride and encouragement never wavered. However, the King was a pony just as the rest of his world, and was prone to mistakes. He, along with his Queen and both Royal Advisers were killed in the Great Griffin War. Although the War was won by the ponies in the end, it still left Equestria in the hooves of two very young, very vulnerable princesses.
Voice Actor: Peter O'Toole
Queen Nova, unequivocal ruler of Equestria, mother to princesses and current rulers Celestia and Luna, and raiser of the sun itself. Created by Mother Gaia and Father Aether from a collapsing supergiant star, this beautiful alicorn seems to glide as she walks, her flowing, curling, and sparkling mane a sight to behold. Nevertheless, her intense magenta eyes can turn icy as the depths of space and stop anypony in their tracks in an instant. The few remaining documentations of the First Rule argue that Nova may have been even more imposing than her husband in her rule. Nevertheless, she was a just and beloved ruler, and much of her kindness and generosity is reflected in her daughters to this day.
Queen Nova was also a just, but stern mother to not only her daughters, but draconequus godson Discord, the son of Royal Adviser Eris. She was always one to give a hug and nuzzle after teaching her children important lessons about life, love, friendship, and how to rule their flourishing country. It wasn't long until she began to teach eldest daughter Celestia how to raise the sun — a feat she accomplished with seemingly no effort, hardly any practice, a few hiccups perhaps…but no matter the love she gave Luna, the encouragement that she too was as powerful as her sister, it did not stop Luna's downward spiral after her mother and father are killed during the Great Griffin War. Nevertheless, Luna can often be seen lying the most beautiful strands of lavender around her parents' stained glass windows at night.
Voice Actor: Alfre Woodard
Disarray was father to Discord, and Royal Adviser of King Galaxias. As a draconequus, Disarray naturally is a trickster and mischievous spirit, but is more strict about his powers and is most likely the most serious draconequus that ever lived. Like the King, this fellow too wore a tough and quiet demeanor, but getting that shell to crack wasn't as easy. Disarray appreciated his position in royal court, and the respect that came with such. He is clever and serves as an invaluable source of advice and knowledge, assisting the King and Queen to keep Equestria peaceful.
Despite his intimidating demeanor, Disarray is an incredibly loving and protective father and husband. While Discord shares his mischievousness and adoration for chaos with his mother, he gets his sly and clever nature from his da. Disarray recognizes how lonely Discord can be at times, being the last draconequus besides his parents, but he is adamant about ensuring the safety of not only his family, but his country and subjects. Despite his warnings against doing so, and insisting he and Nova stay behind, Galaxias was adamant about fighting side-by-side with the draconequus he called his brother. Together, the two rulers were able to bring down Grezelda, Queen of the Griffins and General to her armies. However, they both end up giving their lives in the process of doing so.
Voice Actor: Patrick Stewart
And, finally, we have Eris, Royal Adviser to Queen Nova, wife to Disarray, and of course, mother to up-and-coming villain-turned-back-to-good-guy, Discord. She is also the last female draconequus known from history (until, of course, her granddaughter makes a surprising appearance many millennia later). While soft-spoken, patient, and proper, Eris is not without her mischievous side. She would often employ her son in keeping their castle alive (and often pulling a prank or two on an unsuspecting Da or two.) Though she uses her powers more freely than her husband Disarray, she is still a highly respected member of the royal court.
Wise and intelligent, Eris stands as not only Nova's Adviser, but her best friend and secondary mother to her children. Keeping them in line was sometimes almost as hard as keeping her subjects together! While at this time there is no documentation of such, allegedly Eris was heartbroken and heavily affected by the loss of said subjects through the Ascension — either to reunite with deceased spouses, children, or friends, or to scoff and leave behind the world in which draconequui were not the rulers of such, and should be. Nevertheless, Eris upheld her position with honor until she sacrificed her life in the Great Griffon War. Discord deteriorate quickly afterwards.

.
Many thousands of years later, after Nightmare Moon, after the loss of the Crystal Empire, after Discord was turned to stone, after the crowning of two new princesses and the birth of a third, the world of Equestria knows very little on the history of their land beyond the crowning of Celestia and Luna, Discord's banishment, and Luna's descent into grief and madness. Very few know why this all occurred, and how much their world has changed since it first came into being. Celestia, Luna, and Discord share very little on the First Rule, though a few select ponies are privy to the story of their childhood. After the four stained glass windows are crafted for the four rulers and displayed in Canterlot Castle, the public is made aware of the existence of the First Rulers.
The story of them, however, remains a mystery for many years. That is, until a few curious young ponies (plus one draconequus-pony hybrid) fall into a mystery of their own, and the two stories are going to be more interwoven then any of them thought possible.
