Princess Celestia has been dealing with a string of bad news >>2062373 and tough decisions recently in my Equestria dreamscape. So she could appreciate some good news. Even it was only small victories.

Doctor Steady Pulse sat on the couch and reviewed his notes one more time. Not only was he Princess Celestia's chosen physician, but he also oversaw the medical needs of her Mares-in-Waiting. Along with these duties he was responsible in overseeing to the well-being of any patients the Crown considered important for either diplomatic or security reasons.

The stallion took one more sip of his tea before beginning his briefing. "Your Highness I am happy to report that two patients in our care, Last Thing and Prophecy, are both showing signs of progress and recovery. They still have a long way to go but they're improving."

A smile slowly creeps across Celestia's lip. "That is very good to hear doctor. What are their current condition?"

Expecting this the doctor levitates one of two folders he'd brought to the briefing. Flipping to a particularly page and then took a moment to adjust his glasses he proceeded.

"Well your Highness, first off I want to say that last night we were able take Last Thing out of the magically induced coma >>1964686 we had put her in. Her condition is still serious and she has a long way to go, but she is slowly improving."

The alicorn slowly stirred another cube of sugar into her fresh cup of tea. She did this for several seconds before speaking. "I realize it maybe too early to know for certain, but do you think Last Thing as sustained any permanent damage either physically or mentally?"

The stallion closed his eyes, for several seconds he was silent. "It's too early to be certain your Highness. A patient can experience unexpected setbacks and complications, or they can beat to odds and surprise even those who fear they won't recover."

Steady Pulse took another sip of his tea. "My hope is that Last Thing will make a full recovery, but based on what I've observed I fear that she may done her final mission. Understand she may make enough of a recovery that she may live a long, meaningful, and productive life from here on, but her days as a field operative maybe over."

Celestia slowly closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Then with equal care she let back out. With eyes still closed she nodded her her head. "This is to be expected. Her body went through a terrible amount of stress during her last mission and subsequent bout of seizures. If necessary the Crown will assure she's taken care for the remainder of her days. She's earned that much from the Kingdom. Is she conscious now?"

The unicorn stallion slowly rocked his head from side to side. "Not regularly. Understand she's still being heavily medicated, so at the moment she only has short bouts of lucidity. Hopefully if her condition continues to improve we'll be able to reduce her dosage and that will go a long way to improve her situational awareness."

"I assume Doctor that she'll have a counselor assigned to her to help with what she's experienced?" Celestia finished her current cup of tea.

"Of course your Highness. As you know we have several counselors in the infirmary staff that have the necessary security clearance to be allowed to talk with her about potentially sensitive matters. Both personal and matters related to the Crown."

Celestia pursed her lips. "I also assume if it becomes appropriate my sister will be permitted to enter her dream fabric to see if she can determine what happen to her? Even if she consciously mind doesn't remember anything her subconscious mind might?"

Steady Pulse frowned. "I will authorize only after I am sure that doing that won't result in her relapsing. I know Princess Luna wants to help, but we must exercise caution lest we undo all of her progress."

"Of course Doctor. So what is Prophecy current condition?" >>2058009

The stallion grimaced. "Her situation is a bit more complicated. She sustained significant damage to her heart during the attack. She's improving but the poor mare has already undergone 4 procedures. 2 physically invasive and 2 entirely by magical means. However she will probably have to undergo at least 1 to 3 more procedures to repair the remaining valve damage. Unfortunately she has not had any period of extended consciousness so we're still uncertain what exactly occurred to her in Ponyville."

Celestia let out a long sigh. "Understood. But she is improving?"

"Yes your Highness. We've been able to deactivate the cardio-stabilization matrix that has been externally regulating heart beat. She's still being closely monitored but the procedures seem to be having a positive effect on her. Her own heart is once again begun to handling the workload by itself."

The Princess of the Sun looked out the window at beautiful day outside. She watched a cloud float by for a moment before speaking again. "I want to thank you, Dr Skip Beat, and the infirmary staff for their efforts to help these ponies. Please let them know that."

"Of course your Highness."

"Also Doctor, I want to remind you that Quick Silver, Phoenix, and Blood Feather will be conducting an operation later today. If their operation is successful they will be returning back to Canterlot tonight via airship. Please be ready to conduct after action medical evaluations of them when they return."

The doctor raised an eyebrow. "Based on past experience should assume that Phoenix will be returning with all her limbs still attached to her body?"

"Doctor. What has been your past experience with Phoenix?" The princess gave the doctor a deadpan look.

He sighed. "Right. I'll have the surgery prepped to do any corrective procedures!"

To be continued.
