Page 600 — Pride Before the Fall
Milestones have come and gone over the lifetime of this comic. They mean a lot to me, but at the end of the week it means I go back to making more as usual, mostly for my own sake and the sake of you guys, my audience.
To be recognized for it, though… That's a little bit new.
Today, I'm heading off to Everfree Northwest, a pony convention up at SeaTac. I'll be doing a panel on Sunday at 2:15 called "Story Time! Ponies and Tabletop Roleplaying." And I'll probably have a bunch of other adventures besides. But overall… going as a Community Guest rather than just another guy? That's more than a little bit interesting.
Since I won't be around this weekend, this week's Fallout is Dragons is going up a bit early.
Session 44 — Trojan Horse: Libsyn YouTube
Transcript:Applejack: How 'bout we skip to the part where this Hurricane fellow has a grudge against earth ponies? Oh, and is the effect still on us?
DM: No. It seems as the energy of the contest has wound down, so has the strength of whatever was affecting your performance.
Applejack: Good. So… backstory?
DM: Glad you asked! Before there was an Equestria, there were the three pony tribes. They used to live separately, but were forced to find a new land together. When they found what would eventually become Equestria, the three tribes squabbled over it. But the power of friendship eventually won out. The three became one in harmony. Yet Commander Hurricane, despite playing nice with the other leaders, was said to still believe in pegasus superiority. He secretly resented having to share their new land. So the legend goes that near the end of his life, he and his most loyal soldiers took off on a nonstop flying marathon. To prove that pegasi ruled the skies and could do what every other tribe could not, they patrolled the land endlessly… never even touching the ground until they plummeted from the sky out of exhaustion. One by one, his soldiers succumbed, until after 40 days and nights, Commander Hurricane fell too. And it's said that wherever he landed became his tomb, buried alongside his most loyal followers. A mark on the land left by the general of the sky.
Rainbow Dash: That… was… alright, I guess. Only slightly awesome.
Rarity: You really put a lot of time into this setting, didn't you…?
Pinkie Pie: Woohoo, score! It's a major archaeological find! That's GOTTA be worth a ticket to the Gala!
Applejack: …!
