Page 980 — Secret Double Life
Oh hey, Happy Halloween, y'all! I'm doing nothing special.
How about a Story Time? Any stories about getting excited, not dismayed, for something intensely challenging? Alternately, any stories about previously unspoken backstory becoming relevant rather suddenly?
Transcript:Rainbow Dash: Why is this even a hard decision, then? Call us in already. DO IT.
Rarity: … <siiiiiigh> You know how I tend to make elaborate backstories for these sorts of things? Rarity isn't just a loyal member of the Thieves Guild… Hasn't merely enjoyed her time in the Thieves Guild… She was raised by the Thieves Guild. Rarity grew up poor and destitute, stealing in secret to help her family survive. At the age of 10, with the Guild's support, she pulled off her first big score – a massive gem heist. That's also the day young Rarity got her cutie mark. With some smart investing, her parents now hardly have to work a day in their lives. They even felt secure enough to have a second child. Sweetie Belle gets to attend a nice school now, completely unaware of her big sister's true profession.
Applejack: Ah. I was wonderin' why you kept her a secret…
Rarity: To Rarity, the Thieves Guild is not just a criminal organization. It is Rarity's extended family. They've given her everything she has. That is why this is so difficult. It is the most important decision Rarity will ever make in her life. Perhaps one of the toughest I've faced as a roleplayer… And I LOVE IT!
DM: You're welcome!
