The idea here is Discord comforting AJ, due to something reminding her of the death of her parents.
Maybe the storm, maybe the anniversary of their death or a tree falling over that's been standing since before they left.
Being an ancient creature of chaos, Discord has seen live and death of entire generations but he's not above getting attached to a pony or two, so I imagine they can talk about this to some degree.

AJ is usually a rock, powerful and calm, she doesn't break down or panic or cry for petty reasons, so seeing her large frame curled up and shaking with sobs is a heavy slap in the face, even for Discord.
