Y'all wanted to see it, so here it is: my take on Flurry Heart!


Persephone Sparkle (aka Flurry Heart)

Persie is the first alicorn by birth, which left a lot of questions about her and alicorns as a race. Without much knowledge of these being besides traditionally having to earn such a right and evolving to a higher being, the only baby alicorn caused quite a stir between the royal family as everyone struggled to grasp at an explanation.

Having been such a mature newborn with fully functional wings and horn, Persephone had to be delivered via c-section from her mother. Had Princess Cadance attempted a natural birth, there was a high chance that one would not survived labor. But thanks to skilled doctors and a safe procedure, both mother and daughter were perfectly healthy.

As a child, Persie suffered from every known pegasi and unicorn toddler problem there was: growing pains, excessive down feather fall-out, bursts of uncontrollable magic, and spurts of flight ability. On top of that, Persephone was a very finicky foal, crying over every small inconvenience,

Thankfully, from the help of her parents and Sunburst, Persie slowly but surely learned to harness and control her powers. She had lessons everyday, dedicated to make sure she could handle her immense amount of magic at such a young age. While she is far more experienced with her powers now, it’s common for a slip up to happen.

Persie can still have rough days with her magic, as it is linked strongly to her state of mind and emotions. Even though all unicorn’s magic is connected to themselves as a whole, Persephone seems even more so. Her anxiety, fear, or anger can cause mayhem if she lets loose, which causes her to have to be constantly in check of her own thoughts and feelings.

While not officially confirmed, it is believed that Persie is the “Goddess of Spring”. The other princesses, who stand as the Goddesses of Harmony, Love, and Friendship, are all talented in their own ways. Persephone is the same way. The princesses stand for more than their titles may suggest. While Cadance is believed to simply be influential of romantic love, she actually covers many states of love, including platonic, self-love, romantic love, and acceptance. In this way, Persephone is very similar. Persie stands for hope, new beginnings, and rebirth. This is what guides her powerful magic and in a way, condemns it to be as wild as it is.

Persephone’s power tends to leak out of her horn even when she isn’t harnessing the magic around her and leads to residual magical growth. Plants, even inside the Crystal Palace, will sprout and grow with every step she takes or follow her along the walls and pillars. Her parents thought it was absolutely precious (and perfectly harmless) until the plants started to overtake the grounds of the castle. Extra gardeners are put on staff at the Crystal Palace and make sure to do proper weeding and trimming every night after Persie has gone to sleep.

While Persie’s magic is extremely powerful, her flying is less than spectacular. Born with such large wings, she was unable to do more than glide. Even as a young adult, her wings are far too heavy to fly and in most cases are rather useless. She uses them to be expressive or to glide from an extreme high, and even has hired help to assist with preening and wing maintenance.

Persephone has absolutely no quarrel with being a princess. In fact, she adores being pampered and taken care of at all times. This makes her a bit snobby and expectant of the finer things in life, but her parents make sure to take her on regular walks of their kingdom to try and keep her in a more humble state of mind. While Persie isn’t malicious with her privilege, it can occasionally get to her head.
