After being pulled from school early by their father, Diamond Heart, Cadance and her adopted brother, Azure Glide, came to the hospital where their mother, Amore (Former Principal of Crystal Heart Elementary) was. Between Azure's seventh and eighth grade years, her breast cancer made a resurgence and they knew it was only a matter of time and that time had come. Emotions running high, brother and sister entered their mother's room to say their goodbyes. But for Azure, it was a more personal affair. Amore gave him the beanie that was her favorite piece of headwear. Holding her hands, Azure felt her grip weaken and grow limp. Both Azure and Cadance felt an overwhelming rush of sadness as their mother had died. Azure was in so much distress that Diamond Heart ordered Cadance to take him to the waiting room where they comforted eachother in their shared grief.
