Parents: Princess Cadence and Shining Armor
Name: Prince Larimar
Nicknames: Lars, Silver-tongue
Larimar is the middle child of three, being a year younger than Callie. Ponies always mentioned that he looks like his grandfather, Night Light. Larimar has a talent for pragmatics — and grows up to be an ambassador of the Crystal Empire and a diplomat. He knows how to soothe even the angriest of ponies and is very much someone who is the not-so-silent support behind Callie and someone she can rely on. He knows her better than she knows herself and is the first to notice Sombra's influence on her.
He was given the nickname 'Silver-tongue' after ponies realised his incredible conversation and public speaking skills. He fully embraced the nickname. Larimar is a very polite, well-mannered pony as is expected of a prince. In private, he likes to entertain his family and friends with riddles and puns and has a collection of comic books he bonds with his father over.
As an ambassador, he seized the chance to travel the world quickly and the many countries he visited tend to influence his fashion choices.

"Larimar is a crystal crystal of serenity that promotes relaxation. It's a soothing Water element stone that cools hot tempers and guides excessive passion into peace. It will unleash the voice of one's deepest wisdom and is a wonderful talisman for enhancing and protecting the voice." Info from this website: www.crystalvaults.com/crystal-…

I wanted Lars to be named after a crystal, to make a connection with the Crystal Empire. When I found Larimar I was over the moon as I already had the 'silver-tongue' ideas brewing in my head.
As for the cutie mark — I know serpents aren't general symbols for speech of any kind and have a general negative connotation. However I always seem to associate snakes with speech (may be due to the snake corrupting Eve in the Garden of Eden). Snakes are also symbols of guardianship — more specifically guardians of temples and sacred places. Lars is, at the end of the day, a servant to the Crystal Empire and somewhat a guardian to it too — he looks out for his family and not only in their time of need and keeps other countries at peace with it and uses his talent to do that.
Snakes are also symbols of vengefulness and vindictiveness. Not something you'd want a cutie mark to be associated with, however I'd like to think of it as more of a warning/foretelling of the future more than anything. Take from this what you will, it's an idea I'm toying with that might go somewhere in the future.
