Crescent is the first born of Twilight and King Sombra. During her foalhood, Crescent was like any other foal despite being a princess. She had always been treated slightly different, and she never quite understood the looks she would often get, or why everyone whispered around her. Most ponies knew about King Sombra, and Twilight struggled to keep Crescent from knowing the truth. She always knew her father was King Sombra, but she had no idea who he really was.

Twilight was always unaware exactly how bad Crescent was being treated. Ponies wouldn't go out of their way to be cruel, but their actions spoke incredibly loud to her. At 15, she was finally pushed over her limit. Crescent stormed to Twilight, demanding answers. Twilight explained everything to her, and Crescent was furious. She left immediately after and wasn't seen for several days. Twilight and Shade found her in the Castle of the Two Sisters in a horrible state. She had discovered dark magic, and had overworked herself learning it. Her horn had been tainted dark red, and had been out for days.

Crescent had been rushed to the Crystal Empire, in hope that there was a cure for the effects of dark magic. She laid unconscious for days, and once she awoke, she wasn't the same pony. She was angry at everyone and everything, and blamed her horrible life on Twilight and her father. Later in life Crescent grew up and out of her anger, although not all of it disappeared. She admits she was over dramatic and has apologized to Twilight since, but that hasn't stopped her insecurity.

Crescent discovered her cutiemark by creating a magical charm (amulet). She uses gemstones to make them, "putting" the magic inside of them. She made several as a teen, and even discovered how to make one that made teleportation easier. As she became corrupted however, she began to use her abilities to store dark magic inside of her charms and amulets. She was caught by Twilight making one, and no longer makes them.

Edgy huh?? So more or less teen Crescent kiiinda screwed up the rest of her life.
I'm not very good with backstories so sorry that hers is a bit.. cliche? I'll still be working on it but this is going to be it for now.
