Jikan's parents; Masato Kunai and Sakura Haru, weren't the best parents for him. Living under ancient and denigrating traditions they subdue him and tried to inculcate those traditions to their son, like marrying when he's not ready, they never listened to him when he has issues with his fiancée who hit him, his ninja academy teachers that pressed him to hurt others, and get rid of Kenji some years later after he born.
