Ask and you shall receive! I've had more than a few people either vote for this double headcanon or tell me they want to see it, so here we go~

Pumpkin Cake

Pumpkin is a Cake Decorator that prefers to work in realism, creating baked goods that look like they come right out of a picture. Her favorites? Fruit and veggie shaped cakes. And while her realistic cakes seem to be quite the hit, she also makes wedding and gala desserts.

Pumpkin Cake has an extremely trained eye for detail and in her profession, such skills are necessary. Because of this, she strives for perfection and can become a bit of a grump when she deems something in her work less than amazing.

Not as much of a surprise, Pumpkin Cake was trained by both of her parents and her honorary aunt, Pinkie Pie. When Mr and Mrs Cake handed their business down to Pinkie, she was sure to teach and hire Pumpkin to be Head Cake Designer and Baker at Sugarcube Corner.

When Pinkie Pie was first taking over Sugarcube Corner for her parents, Pumpkin couldn’t help but feel jealous that the shop had passed over her completely. However, once she realized that she had been far too young to run a business by the time Mr and Mrs Cake wanted to retire, she pushed aside her insecurities and knew that Pinkie was the right choice to continue the family business.

It's not too uncommon for Pumpkin Cake to become overwhelmed by her need to be perfect in her career and whenever she becomes discouraged, Pumpkin tends to eat her feelings. And with her body type following closely to her mother’s, she ends up hating herself after destroying an entire pan of cupcakes. It's in these moments that she desperately needs positive energy around her, and who better to bring the good vibes than her Auntie Pinkie, who is more than happy to remind Pumpkin Cake that having fun and being passionate is far more important than being perfect.

Unknown to her parents, Pumpkin Cake has quite a vocabulary, especially when it comes to swear words. Being a baker, small accidents can occur (like burns, cuts, spilled ingredients, etc) which cause Pumpkin to unravel a small sonnet’s worth of curses. Most of her friends don’t expect such a sweet (although nervous) pony to speak in such a way, but they quickly get used to her ranting.


Pound Cake

Pound, unlike his culinary family, is a food critic who absolutely loves eating. He tends to stick to small bakeries around the Ponyville/Canterlot area and writes his columns for a small printing company.

Pound Cake has a very trained palate and is able to recognize many seasonings and flavors, even when they’re mixed together. Without his family realising, it caused Mr and Mrs Cake to believe their son was simply a VERY finicky foal when it came to food. As he grew older, he acquired more of an open-minded approach to food and will try anything once or twice before making a final decision.

Because of his taste-testing talent, Pound Cake will occasionally get very strong, specific cravings for certain kinds of food and drink. And unfortunately, his craving won’t go away until he finds exactly what he’s looking for. But because he is surrounded by many talented ponies, they usually have a chance to quell his craving before he gets hangry.

Pound Cake works out regularly to even out his calorie intake…and will then reward himself with a half dozen blueberry scones. He is rather sensitive about his weight since he can’t imagine being without sweets, but doesn’t really let on how much he’ll work to keep his calories in check. He keeps a food journal and will meticulously write down what he eats while others around him believe that he’s simply jotting down critiques on the food he ate.

Pound absolutely adores his sister’s baking and will always weasel his way into the back of the bakery to take a “sample” from the cooling racks. Knowing exactly what happens when she turns her back when her brother is around in the kitchen, Pumpkin Cake is sure to make a few extra treats. And she doesn’t seem to mind too much, because Pumpkin uses Pound Cake as a taste-tester whenever she’s unsure of a new recipe.

With such a soft heart, Pound Cake absolutely hates giving bad reviews to the bakeries and restaurants he visits. Fully aware of how many food critics have no concerns when it comes to crushing a pony’s culinary dreams, Pound Cake tries to make his critiques have as much encouragement as possible. He’ll let a chef or baker know he wasn’t fond of a certain dish or service, but will be sure to be respectful of their effort and passion for their career.

Being strong from both his earth pony genes and his regular workout regimen, Pound is more than happy to help his sister transport large cakes and carts full of tasty treats when she has a delivery or a catered event. Pumpkin Cake calls Pound her “Sugarcube Roadie” and she believes herself to be more than lucky to be able to depend on her brother for heavy-weight work.


As y'all might have seen, I had a bit less content when it came to their early years. We all know they're the Cake twins and that they were raised by Mr and Mrs Cake (and probably Pinkie, on occasion). I wanted to focus on their future info since we already knew the basics. I hope you liked it!
