The 45 minute challenge was to draw why a changeling was at Cranky's wedding. I'm sure more stuff would've had to happen after this, but it would've been a start.
It's more likely Cranky met a lost changeling that had been blasted away from Canterlot after the wedding. But I couldn't think of a way to draw that without using sequential panels and that would've taken more than 45 minutes.
