A different version of Nautila! Anthro-ish. Ever since I had introduced her years ago I loved the positive response she had gotten. Having an OC design take off like that is wonderful of course. She is fairly complex in design, tho, but I'd say she's a keeper in my gallery eh?
Ended up cutting corners, but here's an attempt at figuring out Nautila's design in anthro form. How to adapt her shell, hood and tenties into a humanoid deisgn. Something I've briefly tried in the past.
Tho, admittedly it might've more useful to do a full body line design first. This ended up being a bit in between anthro and her regular nautilus form.
Having to not just work my way through this shading method and her face, but now also her very different design (as opposed to Applejack's piece) made me rush through the later parts after I did most of the face.
Initially the idea was just to do a proportion/anatomy variation with this front view, to try and highlight all the different ones I've had throughout the years. Using Applejack to bridge the comparisons, it's easier to focus on just the anatomical and style differences when you're looking at the same character.
But I ended up using Nautila and doing the anthro design challenge she gives me.
Anyhow, hope the eyes distract from the rough edges that I blurred and the stuff I cropped.
