The younger term of “filly” or “colt” may also be applied to adults as a flattering term, such as “young filly” to a grown mare or “gentlecolt” when referring to a stallion. But referring to anypony who isn’t a foal as one is pretty rude, even to the point that the words “Foal” and “Foalish” are used as insults to insinuate someone is only as smart as a baby.
