1-4. Azuritina Crystallina Diane Pie (usually called Azurite or Zuri for short) is the oldest of the five Pie cousins. With her monotone voice and quiet, slightly-odd demeanor, its fairly obvious who her parents are. This blue mare carries many of the traditional Pie traits — an adoration for geology and rather impressive physical strength. She gets along quite well with parents, especially her mother Maud. She has spent many hours out in the canyons and badlands, helping her estimate the carbon-dating of a limestone formation or breaking open a five-pound geode.

Despite their off-putting and seemingly cold attitudes, Maud Pie and Mudbriar stand not only as good role models for Zuri, but do adore their daughter in their own unique ways — be it sitting for hours talking about an extraordinary quartz formation she found, or reading her a good bedtime story (usually in the form of an informative textbook about petrified wood). Zuri also finds herself part of a rather large friend group, whether she asked for it or not. Sometimes, however, her friends don't quite understand her deep appreciation for the earth beneath their hooves and the beauty held within. She does enjoy her time spent at the Pie rock farm with the ones who understand a little more how she feels (without having to talk about it).

5-6. Much like most members of her family (operative word: most), Zuri does enjoy and treasure the time she has to herself. Perfectly content with her own company, she can spend hours to days camping out in a canyon, or desert, or forest, trying to find that perfect gemstone or formation for her next piece of work. If she's shopping or otherwise hanging about in town, she usually doesn't shoo away anycreature that offers to join her, though she doesn't exactly encourage them to, either. However, especially as they become mares, Azurite forms quite a close bond with Juniper Berry.

The two were aware of one another through proxy until they finally met in the meadow, the near-blind filly admiring the other's obviously amazing artwork the best she could. Juniper, despite the fact that she can't really discern one gray lump from another, loves to ask different questions about the properties of each rock and stone Zuri shows interest in, often astonished when she can tell exactly the color of the stones inside the geode she's holding even before opening it, just by studying the outside. Though the girls are of very different personalities, its obvious Zuri does enjoy Juniper's company and encourages her own pursuits in her potion-making. She just has her own unique ways of showing that she cares.

7-9. Zuri's love for rock sculpting took off one Hearth's Warming Eve. She was finally old enough to handle a chisel and make her very own Hearth's Warming doll (obviously, still in Pie tradition, from rock). After spending a few moments watching the others, seeing how the muzzles and ears and tails appeared out of mere stone. She spent hours longer than everypony else, something bright and balmy surging through her as, with her very own thoughts and movements, she was able to create something even more lovely from the beautiful rock itself. Auntie Pinkie Pie gushed all evening over how fantastic her very first doll turned out to be, and that really kick-started the blue filly's passion. Over the years she refines her craft and her creations become more and more elaborate. Many of them depict different types of animals, though one of her quartz recreations of the moon sits proudly in Princess Luna's quarters. Azurite also loves the art of stone balancing, and often leaves intricate towers of seemingly impossible formations around Ponyville for its citizens to stumble upon and give a curious glance to. No matter which art she is putting together, Zuri always has a wall of support behind her — most notably from her annoying beloved younger cousins, Confetti Cake and Cherry Chimichanga.
