Guest Author's Note: "Some additional rules that I didn't want to overload the page with. Kicks alternate. Invalid rolls go back to where they started. It has to land in the goal, not just hit it and bounce back. If the die leaves the box, it's out of bounds, and goes to the other player, who gets to place it anywhere on their half of the 'field.' Nat 1's have the same effect, and Nat 20's let you take another shot immediately.

Teams add 20 d6's to the table, 10 on each side. You have 45 points for setting the dice, one point per pip shown on the top of the dice. You can set them anywhere on your side of the field except the goal. During your turn, you can lower the number on a die to represent 'passing' and use that location as your new starting point. One point if the ball is on your side, and two points if its on the other. If you hit an opponent's players with the ball, they go down a pip, but the ball stops there. Goals do not happen if it hits a player.

Is it balanced? Is it fun? I've played some board games that used similar systems, but I'm not a game designer, so…Iunno.

Story Time: Any stories about weird homebrew rules, and whether you did or did not have fun with them?"

Transcript:
RD: Remember how I said we got special rules for that soccer game?
Twilight Sparkle: Yessss?
RD: The board was the soccer field. It’s a dice box. Lemme lay out the rules, Sparkle. We use this big d20 here as our soccer ball. Roll by flicking the die. Goal is to get it into the other person’s…uh, goal.
Twilight Sparkle: Okay…then what about our stats? Do they even matter?
RD: Oh yeah, they matter. When you flick it, if your roll beats the numbers on my sheet, it’s valid. Otherwise, I steal the ball.
MD: And vice versa, obviously. It’s Dex to move it down the field, and Strength to score a goal.
Twilight Sparkle: Oh good…two stats I definitely beat Rainbow Dash in.
RD: I get it. No sense in trying the impossible, right? We can do something else if you wanna chicken out.
Twilight Sparkle: I didn’t say I wouldn’t try.
