"Ocellus is a Changeling student at Twilight’s School of Friendship. She‘s very shy when meeting new people, and often changes form when she is scared or embarrassed. Because Changelings have been seen as villains for so long, Ocellus tries extra hard to be polite and kind. After she made friends with the Young Six, she has come to love being part of the School of Friendship, and share her knowledge with them. Ocellus may be the School of Friendship's only Changeling student, but she's excited to overcome her shyness and learn all she can!
Ocellus’ Element of Harmony is Generosity."
Meet the Changeling of the Young Six. Shy yet erudite, Ocellus proves how special Changelings are, especially since they changed their wicked ways. Even though she started off scared, and would change forms to hide out of sight, after she made new friends, Ocellus came to enjoy being part of the school. Although Ocellus was also afraid that she and the Changelings would never truly change from what they once were, her friends let her know that all creatures can change, even for the better. And it actually makes sense that she represents Generosity. After all, up until very recently Changelings were a species exclusively defined by greed, existing only to take and consume that which wasn't theirs. Even after their reformation, they had nothing. Fortunately for Ocellus she does have something to give: Knowledge. As the most studious of the Young Six, which she's eager to share with anyone she can. Whether it's organizing study groups or using what she's learned to help solve others' problems, Ocellus always gives freely of the only thing she has to her name.
Ocellus is perhaps my most favorite Young Six character ever! She is super adorable, shy, kind, studious, has a cute voice (thanks to Devyn Dalton), and reminds me of two of my favorite Mane Six characters (Fluttershy and Twilight Sparkle), as well as one of my DA friends (Lucy). I never thought they Hasbro would ever feature a cute changeling before, and Ocellus takes 1st prize.
Since I've made vectors of Ocellus in the past, there's no need to discuss about this. The background, however, that's another story. At first I thought I could easily procure a suitable one. I was thinking of a ladybug's wing shell. However, I discovered my idea couldn't be found anywhere. Then I decided to use a dragonfly eye, since Ocellus's name refers to the simple eye found on some insects, like bees. One more student to go, and that's all the Young Six.
