In the years between the first Princess Laurelore's departure from Equestria and the coming of age of Celestia and Luna, the nation of Equestria was governed by a Regency.
It begun as a collection of Equestria's best and brightest which then became coupled by foreign allies from the Heptagon Isles.
But when the notorious Hardhoof, a cantankerous anti-alicorn preacher from the outskirts of Equestria where a backwards, earth-pony supremacist society worked to reconquer mainland Equestria, the Regency became a corrupt, totalitarian, megalomaniacal circle of madness and disdain until the day it was thwarted by the careful strategy of the still quite young Princesses. In that time, Equestria was changed many times over and many legends were put to page.
