Artist's description:Would you believe me if I said I'd never painted a pone before?
Well, believe it. This is the first time I've ever done something like this.
This thing is tiny. the actual painted part is probably 2 x 3 inches or close to that. And really, this was more or less an experiment to so how much I liked painting these things traditionally.
A lot, it turns out is the answer. I LOVED doing this. I know that Gouache is not everyone's favorite medium, but it's quickly become my new one over watercolors. I mean, really it's just basically opaque watercolors when we get down to it.
But yeah. For a first experiment, I had a blast. The sad thing about traditional art is that a scan or a photograph is never going to look exactly the same as the actual little painting. The colors just never have the same vibrance and brilliance….and…depth? UGGH. Art words. Long story short, it never looks as good.
But regardless, I'm super happy with how this came out.
If you're curious, I used Windsor & Newton paints on Cold Press Illustration Board. It's almost like Matte Board for making posters but much more dense.
Time — About 1 Hour 35 Minutes ?
I dunno. Time flies.
Thanks for looking. If you guys would like to see more of this kinda stuff (and maybe just maaaaaybe commission for something like this) please lemme know. Cause I REALLY liked making this.
I could also branch out into a more environmental piece. That'd be pretty fun.
