Starswirl exclaimed,"Why should I trust you?!"

"I told you, I have changed! I don't wish to have chaos to rule this world anymore! I have friends now!," Discord defended. His voice has a tone of desperation.

Starswirl argued, "Does that matter after what you've done? After knowing full well of the consequences of aiding Tirek, you actually have all of Equestria's greatest villain to work together just to increase Princess Twilight's confidence?!"

"I didn't mean to put the world in danger! I didn't want to put my friends in danger after all we've been through! I did it out of the best intention!", said Discord, he was hoping the conversation doesn't go downhill.

Starswirl stared at Discord in disbelief of his words.

Starswirl responded, "The best intention? I have studied history many times… and I have learned that some of the worst things that have ever happened, are CAUSED by the 'best' intentions."

He continued, "All the evil that ran amok this world, all the depravity that corrupts us, they are not caused by the great powers that someone possess, but simply by those who would choose to do so. I don't know how you came up with your twisted idea, but all I know is that you are far to dangerous to ponies, simply because of who YOU ARE!"

Discord was appalled. "I'm not your enemy… am I?", Discord said, almost sounded like he was sobbing. The draconequus knew well enough that Starswirl wasn't the type who would easily forgive, yet he still came to Starswirl in hopes to reconcile what little relationship they had left. Those words didn't indicate that he could.

There was a pause between the two. The wizard wasn't sure whether to take back his words, or to further scold him. He decided to end the chat right there.

"Now's not the time for idle chat. I'm not in the mood for that and I am… organizing my collections," the unicorn sighed.

"Yes. Of course you are," said Discord. The whole time, he looked sad and worried during the conversation, like a child had been scolded by a parent. Not wishing to linger anymore, he poofed out of Starswirl's home.

The wizard was a bit regretful of what he said to Discord,though it's hard to sympathize him after what he had done. He remembered the first time he encountered Discord, the draconequus was just a small filly, somehow was surviving the wilds all on his own. The wizard decided to took him in, curious and pitiful towards the creature. He also remembered how he was often angry towards Discord for making so much mistakes, that the draconequus ended up running away.

Perhaps that's why Discord's the way he was, he had no real parent, Starswirl thought. Starswirl looked at the book that he picked before Discord appeared in his house; 'Family and Friends: Origins'.

Strange title, he thought. "Perhaps I should take a break and do some light reading."


As you can imagine, this takes place after the finale of the show, specifically after Twilight's coronation.

I was disappointed of how little is Starswirl's screentime in the whole show, mainly because the series had interesting lore surrounding him, and he doesn't really do much in the show. I was curious that Discord and Starswirl didn't seem to appear in the same room together. (If there is, please show me Ican'tgetthatideaofdiscordisstarswirloutofmyhead) But I'm also curious about why Discord decided to take over Equestria after Starswirl went missing.

I still have that headcannon of Discord being Grogar's creation (I promise, I will finish that story), so I wondered if Starswirl the Bearded has some history with the God of Chaos.

Some of you might be wondering why the conversation started like it was at the middle, well, that's because it was. I had difficulty thinking how to start the talk, so I might as well started it at when the drawing shows.
