After the founding of Equestria, the three tribes came together to solve the pressing issue of raising the sun and moon everyday. Too many unicorns had died or had their magic wiped completely as they tried carrying on the natural cycle. And so, the best and most skilled ponies from each tribe worked together on a solution over many years. With their combined magic and perhaps a little cosmic interference, two winged and horned fillies, one blush-coloured haired born in the day and the other cornflower one later in the night.

Care and tutorage for the two was rotated around the ones who created them but oddly enough, the two seem attached to the young, promising unicorn wizard in training, Starswirl. A little stunned by the attention, Starswirl could only watch and entertain as the two followed him wherever he went, eventually becoming their sole mentor, then their caretaker for life, and perhaps even a father to them.

So Celestia and Luna are the powerpuff girls! JK, I just couldn’t really buy into the idea of them having biological parents since they look so ethereal. So they were just created and Starswirl is their tired dad who has to look after the magical experiment that is the two royal sisters. Also Clover the Clever is going to be like their big brother is this found family later in their life!
