A design for my shipping grid adoptables :)

This was an interesitng one -the buyer asked for a pagasus or alicorn, who had inherited batpony genes from Fluttershy, from the time Twilight temporarily made her one. They mentioned that a daytime themed batpony would be fun, which I wholeheartedly agree with! :D The also asked for the design to be male with a somewhat androgynous or femine appearence, and to have a mostly pink with yellow/orange color scheme and some green/blue accents.

Now, my first thought when I hear of "bats" and "bright sunlight colors" is …the honduran white bat. Which is white frugivore bats with yellow ears and noses. So I started from that point, but couldn't get the other bright colors to fit nicely. So I then moved onto just frugivore bats in general, thinking I could combine bright colorful fruits with the bat-aesthetic. Well, as I was researching options and inspiration for that, I was reminded of nectarivorous bats' existance. I tried to find what type of flowers they usually eat from, and none of them looked very much as what I was going for. But I still decided to go for a flower theme rather than a fruit one despite this, because if felt more fitting with how Fluttershy had butterflies, i.e. animals known for drinking nectar (and blood if given the opportunity, which is… fitting I guess, with Fluttershy's transformation)

The type of flower wasn't hard to choose. I briefly thought of sunflowers, but then jumped directly to hibiscus. Hibiscus flowers are so gorgeus, and colorful, and I love them? Stereotypical for when you want flowers on "tropical" shirts and such, but gosh they are still beautiful -probably why they're the go-to flower in those situations. It also fits that they do have this stereotype surrounding them, as it reminds of this bright sunshine and warm tropical weather. Which fits the child of Celestia imo. They also have the added bonus of coming in all the colors mentioned, except green which… leaves, it's no issue. I don't think it's what bats actually eat from, nor am I sure they even live in the same places… but they're beautiful enough that I take artistic freedom on this one.

So! Light pink for the body, with darker pink towards the hooves. I wanted to give him feathers for the fetlocks, to remind a bit of petals. But this also ment I had to give him feathered wings -so I decided to compromise and give him bat/bird cross wings sort of. Bat wings with a feather covering? Felt like it fit to show how he's only part bat-pony as well.

For the mane, I wanted him to have yellow, orange, and dark pink. Since yellow and pink were asked for, and when I looked up yellow and pink hibiscus, what I very often found were these beutiful dark rich pink centers, with bright yellow edges. I also added the there -partially to break away from just pink and yellow everywhere, and to tie him back with Celestia, who I felt was lacking just a bit in the design. I also gave him pink eyes for this, and some glitter effect in the mane. (Though, that's also just becuase I really like it when manes have a glitter effect =P)

The mark was relatively easy to come up with -I wanted him to have three bat silhouettes, like how Flutterbat had, and a dark pink and yellow hibiscus flower. The flower in the center, as the main focal point, to remind a bit of Celestia's sun. Toyed with putting the bats around it, but decided to have it inside one of them, to make it stand out more -it was blending into the pink a bit too much. Also went all out with the associations to stereotypical hibiscus prints, and looked up what type of leaves and greenery are often used in those, and used the same ones here =P (Oh, and fun fact: the silhouette is supposed to be a Grey-headed flying fox, though you can't really tell that at all)

As for the name "Helios Hibiscus"; Helios was the name of the greek god of the sun, and ….I like alliterations. "Sunsoaked Petals" I added to give and option for an english name, as few ponies aside from Luna and Tia have non-english names. I really like how the word 'sunsoaked' sounds and the imagery it brings to mind. 'Petals' to tie back to the flower theme, and becuase it gives the name a nice rhythm.

That explanation became longer than I thought- I just had so much I wanted to say I guess I hope you like him, and thank you for the support! :D
