You might not know this, but I was the one in charge of the library until Twilight Sparkle and her assistant moved in. As a toponymist I know how to keep records filed and care for the books, but it’s a government owned building so it was never ‘my home’. Now I get a housing stipend from the royal court rather than being provided a place, which lets me pick where I live and get more work done on my reports rather than dusting shelves! Ponyville isn’t big enough to justify a full-time librarian, but I don’t quite approve of how Twilight treats the whole library as 'her house’ and acts like she’s doing somepony a favor by letting them check out a book.
