Description:

Phew! Finally I can reveal this character Meet Ravaillac (yeah it’s a kind of apple good for cider), adopted Appleshy son in the noodleverse. And since @krickis was kind enough (and great as always) to write a backstory for him, you can read it under the cut

Ravaillac was sickly and the reindeer are nomadic in an already harsh environment, so when his parents died they left him in a pony orphanage instead. They’d argue that it was for his own good, Appleshy would argue that they just didn’t want the responsibility of taking care of someone with medical needs.

For as long as Rav was in the Crystal Empire orphanage, other reindeer would visit and provide for his care as well as possible (I mean, you can’t really place a charge in a forign orphanage without making some kind of arrangements) which had the effect of making him desperately wish he could be part of the reindeer world (especially since racism is a bit more of a surface issue in the Noodleverse, and we all know that kids can be blunt to the point of cruelty).

But even if Ravaillac grew stronger as he grew older, the other fawns all had years of experiancing life with the reindeer, whereas Rav grew up in a sheltered environment. To him, he sees going back to the reindeer as a way of being with others like him, but the reindeer just see a fawn that is far too old to be so inexperianced in their ways, making him still a liability.

The orphanage is at a loss for what to do with him. Many potential parents just want to adopt a pony and bypass him entirely, but worse are the ones willing to adopt him. It’s always an issue of “does this parent really want to give a good home to a child who is in need of one, or do they just want a shining beacon that says ‘look how not racist we are!’?”). Shining and Cadance themselves almost stepped in to adopt him, or to at least find someone they trust
who would be willing, just to make sure he was going to a home that actually wanted what was best for him and wouldn’t just be parading around their son.

That’s when Appleshy showed up. By this point, they were likely at least talking about the hypothetical of having children (maybe Fluttershy was getting ideas because of Flurry Heart), so Shining and Cadance knew it was the perfect time to have the awkward conversation of “we’re totally not saying you should adopt this deer because one of you is a deer, but hey, you should adopt this deer”. Applejack was the one who was more concerned about raising children than Fluttershy (lol isn’t she always?), but once they met Rav, she was also the one who first decided that it was definitely something they should do.

Ravaillac was delighted. He knew that reindeer and white tail deer were different, but truth be told, he never actually had a great grasp on what reindeer were all about anyway — they were always just a vague concept of where he felt like he belonged. So to him, this was the chance he had always felt like he’d been denied, and more than happily agreed. Plus I mean… any kid who’s not wowed by Appleshy wanting to adopt them has some bigger issues going on >.>
