Before I start: yes, I am aware that Spike's back spines are missing.
As you can see, the differences between Jade and Spike are subtle. After all, they are baby dragons and their differences don't really manifest themselves until they grow older. Spike is wingless and a male, hence his heavier build. Note that their heads and muzzles are not the same shape. Jade has a larger forehead than Spike does and a smaller occipital bone, as well as a less pronounced chin.
Some of you asked me about the markings (two spots, the top one bigger than the other) on her lower back and pointed out they were missing in some of my drawings. They were missing because Jade has markings on only one side of her back, her left side.
