I got bored, played some TF2, and came up with this.
This is not quite as serious as my main and secondary match-ups, but it's one that fascinates me nontheless. :)
DEMOCORN TWILIGHT:
- This match-up was born from a mix of things; primarily? The Demoman is the merc who is most effected by magic and/or the mystical. When he was a wee boy, he cleaned a wizard's library and lost his eye to a book possessing it and said wizard casting a spell to remove it. Said eye is now a magical monster that fires magical eyeball rockets at people. Similarly, as many people like to relate the chemistry of bomb-making to potion making, we've seen that Twilight does have some expertise in this realm (or, at the very least, has books on it) and chemistry in Equestria is basically just another form of magic.
Fascinating as this is, the Demoman is still probably not the best match because being effected by magic and actually using it are two different things. While he does use magic in Helltower, so does every other merc, so that sets us right back at square one.
HEAVY BICEPS:
- Need I really go into detail? Big. Loud. Muscular. Slow movement speed (if only by flying far as I know). Buff Biceps and Heavy share a lot, including a deceptively kind nature beneath a boisterous and strong exterior.
Nothing really stopping this match-up — I guess it depends on who you like more between Big Mac and Buff Biceps. :P
SOLDIERJACK:
- Applejack's a silly pony, and devoted to whatever purposes she sets herself to. While not quite as unhinged as Soldier is, Applejack is sort of the everymare of the Mane 6, which fits for the nature of the Soldier as sort of a functional 'beginner's character' or sorts.
Nothing stopping this one either besides personal preference. :)
DERPYRO:
- The Pyro is a mumbling psychopath with no grasp of reality and a fascination in all things flammable. It is often best for him to perform hit and run tactics as opposed to sit around and wait to be killed. I found this particularly fitting with the clumsy and silly nature of Derpy — his mumbling and masking also good references to some peoples' desire to hide what makes Derpy different (even if we all love her for it). Bonus points? Melee weapon mailbox.
What stopped this? Mostly, some people wanted Spike in the lineup, and I simply could not make Spike Soldier — it made no sense to me. To be honest, Derpy is one of the few things I sometimes feel I could have done better; if I had considered things more carefully, she just might have been the pyro. :)
Just assume with this lineup that Zecora is the Medic (from a previous alternates list) and everypony else is as I usually depict them. XD
