A thought of trying to see what SStB's CM was from the latest comic, and while most ever shot of him has his cape covering his flank, or putting it in shadow, this shot I would figure that his mark should be at least PARTIALLY visible.
Of course, this could be to avoid creating canon to be destroyed by the show (much how one cover for FF#3 hints at the semi-canon/fanon names of Twilight's parents by having a hoof covering the bulk of the names)
