Twilight of course is really a not-sickly, more friendly Patchouli as a pony, but this is about the duo Player Characters, so of course she had to be Reimu, both being sorta the main character of their respective universes and possessing unbelievable, innate power. But while Twilight is constantly studying to improve, Reimu is a terrible slacker.
However, while Rainbow Dash would probably be better as Aya, if only because both of them are explicitly the fastest in their respective universes (I'm sure RD would want it that way. Then again, there's Youmu with her possible near-light speed, but I'll relegate that to spell card-only & in just short bursts), player character-wise I see a lot of similarities between RD and Marisa. They're both brash tomboys who are constantly working to better their skills (Marisa with magic and RD with athletics), and Marisa does have a bit of a rainbow theme with her danmaku. Also, Marisa is both the fastest & strongest Player Character with very narrow range, something that matches pretty well with RD.

AND ON ANOTHER, SLIGHTLY RELATED THING THAT YOU CAN STILL TOTALLY IGNORE BECAUSE IT'S SILLY & ABOUT SHIPPING, WHICH THIS PICTURE IS NOT ABOUT: For some reason, I just can't really get into TwiDash, which bugs the heck out of me because MariPatchy is my favorite Touhou ship & TwiDash is practically that ship ponified, yet the latter barely interests me.
… I know! Someone ponify the Locked Girl PV, stat! That's what got me to fall in love with MariPatchy, by Celestia it'll get me a lot more interested in TwiDash!
