"Rainbow Dash. She's cool. And blue. And she's depressing.

Now, I'm about to launch into a huge block of text, but before I do, I actually want to elaborate on where my headcannon of Rainbow came from.

One day, I was being over-analytical of the show as usual when I noticed an odd theme; three of the six characters had grown up without their element. Pinkie grew on a rock farm without smiling or joy (no Laughter), Fluttershy was cruelly abused by her peers (no Kindness), and Twilight didn't have any friends until she was sent to Ponyville (no Friendship, which Friendship=Magic, so no Magic). The timing for this realization was perfect, because at that time I had read a quote in the description of a fanfic, "For a person to truly value a smile, there has to be an event, a catalyst that makes them value happiness above all else,". Putting two and two together, I realized that the very reason these characters were the embodiment of their elements was because they had come to greatly value it from experience without it. Pinkie, Fluttershy, and Twilight's catalysts were simple; the show had made big deals of these events. But what about the others? We simply don't know enough about their pasts to be able to truly come to a conclusion, but hey, more room for fannon, right? So basically, I created a reason for Rainbow's loyalty, and as time passed, I evolved from there and ended up here. So, enjoy! :w00t:
