I know the idea is a bit prosaic, what with having the Graboid from "Tremors" fighting against the stupid Sand Shark, but you know what's funny about it? The director of "Tremors", Ron Underwood, came up with the idea for his movie while he was sitting on a rock, trying to figure out reasons as to why he wouldn't be able to leave. He described his original idea as "Jaws but, underground". I would've never expected someone to take this concept so literally as to turn it into a movie. So of course, I can't help but feel a bit miffed at the fact that they've taken one of my favorite movies of all time, and one of the best monster movies ever made, and made a Shark Movie out of it. So I'm with Movie here, I'm rooting for the original. Also, it feels good to draw Movie Slate relaxed for a change. She deserves a break what with all the things she had to put up with last year. Expect to see her a lot like this during this week.

So, Sand Sharks. What do I say about this movie? It's "_Sand Sharks"! It's literally "Jaws" meets "Tremors", and even for the standards of a Shark Movie it does lack in some aspects. Despite it taking place in a beach area, and during a similar festivity to Spring Break, the tone is surprisingly PG-13. There's almost no nudity, the gore is pretty unsatisfying, the production value is lousy (An M-16 rifle turned into a flamethrower? What the fuck?), and it even ends in a stinger ending with the promise of a sequel that will never come. So you'd expect this movie to be absolutely terrible, even for a Shark Movie, right? Well, not really, because there's one thing that makes this movie worth watching. The character of Jimmy Green, played by Corin Nemec. This guy spends the entire movie trying to make this festival happen without a hitch, because he's never managed to accomplish anything in his life and this stupid celebration is his last shot at trying to do something worthy of remembering, only for it to turn into a sand shark buffet. He's also the only character who has a somewhat satisfying arc, and for some reason I spent the entire time thinking he was Markiplier. He kinda looks like him!

So, yeah, this is one movie that is just pure trash, but that one character makes it worth checking it out. I rate it:
