A conversation between the artist and another artist, both anons.

>"A couple of years ago I started practicing sculpting. I'm not very successful or productive, but I'm trying to change it, by working more with it.
I didn't done anything pone-related so far. Well, I started making one pony on this week, but right now it's just carcass with some material on it.
Can you quess which pony it will be, /mlp/?"
"What sort of wire are you using for the armature? I've tried my hand at a little clay sculpting but I find the idea of creating good armatures to be intimidating so everything I've made so far has been relatively compact (pic related)."
>"Yes, I understand that feeling, I had my own difficulties with armature.
Since day 1, I was using two kinds of wires:
Copper wire, ~0.5 mm — thin, easy to bend. Probably too thin, but if it twisted (like some parts in >>#post#) it's ok.
Aluminium wire, ~2 mm — very thick, also hard to bend (I have to use tools to bend it properly). Used as main source of support for sculpture.

Also, I cover them with a layer of "green stuff" from Games Workshop, so main material could stick to it. I started to do so a little while ago, but it seems fine so far.

Biggest what I done with them is sculpture ~16 cm tall, purely for practice. Chrysalis going to be ~15 cm and I didn't used aluminum wire this time, but I going to make her part-by-part (so I could make duplicates from every part separately) so it's quite different."
