"After a number of correct answers from both players were given, Sonata Dusk had a chance to continue the $1,000,000 battle question and make Rarity give a wrong answer so that Sonata wins $250,000. Unfortunately, Sonata gave a wrong answer to the question, which made Rarity win the $1,000,000. In that case, the challenger who gets the question wrong leaves with no money."
In the real-world version of the game show, which was just simply called 500 Questions, however, the total winnings earned by the contestants added up to only $225,000 — the lowest total winnings given away on a primetime game show since 2006 (when Fox canceled The Rich List after only one episode). One genius won $35,000, one won $110,000, and another won $80,000.
