The explaination why the Sirens were only a couple of years in the EQG World and in equestria over a thousand years had past:

Sonata had been crying since she woke up. Aria and I had found her unconsious in the rain mumbling that she is sorry and old beardys name over and over again. Aria tries to get Sonata to tell what had happend but to no success. All she managed to get out was that Sonata had listend in on a conversation between the bacon haired equestrian and her friends. Great. Now I have to look for sunset shimmer, if i want to know what turned sonata into this wreck of a person.
There she was! I found her. Classes were over for today and she was at her locker. "What did you tell then?" She turned around, her disinterest was clearly shown. "What?". She asked. "What did you tell them about starswirl?"
"Why does it interest you?"
"Sonata had heard it and what ever it was and that led to her running away and ending up unconsious in the streets

Sunset and I wore blank expressions on our faces as we continued to star in the direction the man had walked. "Sunset? who was that?" "I think that was Mr Smith our Physics substitute."
