"Big Sister, NO!" The younger alicorn screamed. Luna panicked as Celestia had burst into her bedroom, a scowl chiseled on her muzzle.

"You know the penalty from sneaking books out of the Black Heart, much less reading them. They are locked in there for a reason!" she scowled.

"They are full of pertinent information for the safety of Equestria! How else would we know what ill may befall us?" Luna snapped back.

"And what evil may spawn from reading it? You have put Equestria in MORE danger than anything contained in those books! As if your betrayal of pilfering from the Black Heart wasn't enough, it would seem the book already has you in it's hold, it WANTS to be out."

"Most certainly not! This tome holds none of my interests, There is no dark snare to fall into cast upon these pages!"

"Then I have lost already, if you believe such. Prepare for your punishment." Celestia said, her face dropping in tandem with her heart.

"What do you speak of, punishment?" Luna stomped a hoof in defiance.

It was too late, Her sister had already cast the spell.

Luna felt her hind hooves growing heavy, unresponsive. As she turned her head and lifted a hoof into her vision, she recoiled in horror. She was being petrified.

"Sister-!" Luna paused her plead, trying to move forward only to be held back by her stone hooves. She looked back quickly, her panicked expression as she turned back to face her sister,"Please, NO! This book has not tainted me."

Her tail, her flank and her stomach were already consumed, dead to her. As her fast breathing stopped when it reached her chest, she could no longer speak. Luna raised a hoof, intent on touching her sister so that she may impart some sorrow in her touch. Her wings solid, as panic told her to flee they opened to carry her away, though froze mid opening into stone.

Tears collected in her eyes as her neck was becoming immobile. She turned away as it reached her cheeks, as one would do if in rising water. Feeling everything heavy and immobile, but aware of her limbs still, retaining a sense of feeling in them.

Her tears wetted the stone as it crept aross her eyes, her open muzzle and on to consume her horn and ear tips, locking her inside her own stone form.

Luna could hear and feel, but retained no sight or vocal abilities. It was as if a great force had surrounded her entirely, pushing inward on her every atom to a more compact shape, squeezing her tightly with no end.

"I'm sorry," Celestia herself shed a tear. There was nothing else she could have done. The spell cast upon the book was unbreakable once a pony gazed upon it's pages. This was the best way, instead of trouble she would case, she was better off as a statue. Time was the only saving grace, eventually the spell would wear off. When it would was another question… if it ever did. She would check on her sister once a week, to feel is the spell was still cast, filling the room with a thick invisible fog that pawed at unicorn magic.

Luna's mind moved from sorrow in the long time she had. Her sister had locked the door to her room, forbade anypony from entering and had left her there for a century already. Her mind turned to anger, revenge. Celestia had left her in here for eternity. She always wanted the power, all of it, to have a single Queen to rule Equestria, not the two of them as Princesses.

That was it, that was why she was here. In a few hundred more years, nopony would remember the moon. Trapped in her own darkness she could not control. She would get free, slowly she had explored the petrification spell's structure upon her, searching for a weakness.

She would be back, and make her sister pay. Make her, no, the entire WORLD feel her pain. They would know the numbing nothingness of the dark. She would be what they needed, the only light in the sky.
The moon.

Yes, night eternal. A fitting punishment for confining her in stone.

'Asleep' in her own darkness, when she awoke, everypony would know her in the blackness, an eternal Night Mare.
