Excerpt from the Journal of Star Swirl the Bearded:
Princess Luna, like her sister, is an alicorn and has achieved literal demigod status; and also like her sister, her strength and speed are beyond that of mortals, and she has a mind to match. (The exact method of obtaining this power remains a mystery to me, as the sisters refuse to share it.)
Lunas longevity has allowed her to master multiple disciplines of war and she is both an accomplished mage and a peerless warrior. In the art of magic, I note that she specializes in force and energy manipulation, illusion, and cold magics. And while her talent for the arcane is arguably second to her sister, any mage would be wise to respect and fear her ability. However, it is obvious her true skills are those of physical combat. She is competent with every martial form commonly known in Equestria and many that are far more exotic. Most favored by her is a massive great-sword she has dubbed Eclipse, that she claims to have been forged from the very shadows of the dark side of the moon. (I am unable to verify this myself, but the metal is unlike anything familiar to me.)
However, at this point, I feel I must express a concern; if not publicly, then at least in the privacy of this journal. Ive observed that Luna feels like the less favored of her and her sister, and significantly so. And possibly with good reason; Many Equestrians are intimidated the severity of her presence. The realm of night and dreams is undeniably under Lunas ward and yet they irrationally fear the dark. While Luna has yet remained a steadfast defender of her people, their apparent lack of gratitude has instilled her with a dark and sullen demeanor, which only makes matters worse. I fear she may even one day turn upon the citizens of Equestria as well as her sister. But to what end I can only guess
