History:
Golden Flare is the youngest of Pinkie and Cheese's adopted family. She, like Neon, was left without a home or a family after a tragic accident and was taken to an orphanage in a small village outside of Baltimare. Even at such a young age, the filly already sported a cutie mark, though she generally tried to avoid talking about it or her talent. Goldie was a scared and nervous child, who was prone to setting things on fire if she was upset or startled. She insisted she didn't mean to, but her continuous destruction of property put stress on the caretakers to find a solution or get rid of the child. They eventually found that coating the filly's horn in wax dampened her abilities, but it wasn't a permanent fix. The only other thing the caretakers could do was seclude Goldie from the rest of the children, so that she could not be provoked. Goldie was kept apart from the other kids, held indoors when they would go outside to play and slept in a large closet down the hall from the other foals. She grew very lonely, but dared not argue, for fear of hurting the others. She likely would have stayed there, if not for a rambunctious, young colt who was determined to get on the caretaker's nerves and break every rule they had. Neon Blitz saw Goldie walking to her "room" one evening and asked her why she was sleeping in a "stinky old closet"? When she explained, he fluffed up his feathers and declared that this was not at all fair. Without asking permission or waiting for a reply, the scruffy pegasus gathered up Goldie's pillow and blanket, trotted into the room he shared with a few other foals and promptly dropped them onto an empty cot next to his. He then declared that she was his new neighbor and if anyone wanted to mess with her, he'd beat the ever livin' snot out of em. Shocked by his forwardness, Goldie reluctantly obliged and slept soundly for the first night since she'd come to the orphanage.

Since then, Goldie and Neon were inseparable. Though they were total opposites, the two got along well. Neon helped draw Goldie out of her shell and encouraged her to stand up for herself. In return, Goldie helped Neon to relax a bit around the other kids and prevented more than a few fights between he and some of the bullies there. Goldie had only been at the orphanage for a few months, when Pinkie Pie and Cheese Sandwich made their first visit. The couple were looking for two kids, a colt and a filly. The caretakers suggested a number of young foals to the couple, but when Cheese caught sight of Neon and Goldie on the playground, being hounded by bullies, he couldn't stand idly by. The stallion politely warded the bullies off and struck up a conversation with the two oddballs. Soon enough Pinkie came to join him and they were smitten. They insisted on adopting the rebellious pegasus and the dangerously unpredictable unicorn, ignoring all attempts from the caretakers to go with more "manageable" foals.

While Neon, took some time to settle in at the Pie house, Goldie was instantly enthralled with Pinkie and Cheese. She was finally wanted by someone and with every kind gesture and warm smile she became more and more sure that it was genuine. When Pinkie asked about the wax she continued to apply to her horn, Goldie told her about her magic and how she couldn't really control it. Pinkie insisted there was nothing wrong with her and that she was just in need of some proper teaching. She enlisted Twilight's help and, while Goldie's magic was still prone to unstable bursts, she was at least able to control it better with each lesson. Still she feared what would happen if she were to loose her temper and insisted on the wax when she wasn't practicing with Twilight. At this, Pinkie and Twilight wrote to Sunburst, who hopped on a train right away to meet this unique little unicorn. He stayed in Ponyville for a week, watching Goldie's lessons with Twilight and constantly taking notes on how her magic acted and reacted. He left with a promise to find a more secure solution to her fears. No less than a month later Goldie received a pale, pearl-like pendant in the mail. When she put it on, it turned a vivid orange and she could instantly feel her magic fade to almost nothing. With the pendant on, she had to make a significant effort to even make a spark. It was perfect!

Without the constant fear of burning down the house, Goldie was able to fully embrace her life with the Pies. She threw herself into trying new things, like baking, decorating, party planning, gardening, painting and even gave rock farming a try when they went to the Rock Farm one Hearth's Warming Eve. Every day she took on more and more of Pinkie Pie's enthusiasm and zeal. She loved life, she loved school and she loved all the new friends she was making in Ponyville. She did notice Neon wasn't quite adjusting as smoothly as she was, but that sour puss was never one for bright and cheery stuff. The two began to drift apart more and more. She tried a few times to reconnect with her adoptive brother, but he had changed and she was more inclined to focus on the friends she had things in common with.

When the young Princes came to Ponyville to attend school for a semester, Goldie's world changed. The second she laid eyes on Concord, she was bewitched by his hansom features and perfect, confident smile. She wasted no time in trying to get the Sun Prince's attention and he certainly took note of her attraction. He humored her, allowing her to spend time with him and delighted in her willingness to do anything for him in return for the slightest praise or compliment. At the end of the semester, however, Concord decided Ponyville was much too boring and returned to Canterlot. He said goodbye to Goldie, lamenting that he would miss her terribly and wished she could join him at his mother's school. Goldie begged and pleaded with her parents to let her attend Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, in hopes that she could continue to see Concord. Pinkie and Cheese were unsure, but figured that getting more detailed lessons from professionals at such a school would be good for her and approved. As soon as Goldie arrived in Canterlot, she and Concord began dating and she couldn't be happier. Of course his "requests" started to get a bit more mischievious and he did start to tease her from time to time, but he was just playing. After all he was the son of Discord. A little chaotic nature was to be expected. No matter what he said or did, she loved him with everything she had and when she graduated from Celestia's school, she opted to stay in Canterlot, with her beloved.
