Clutch Steinbuck was a scientist from Detrot who had mysteriously vanished on the 5th of April last year. Before his disappearance, he was working on a transportation system that would allow ponies to travel at higher speeds without the use of their own legs, having just completed developing an energy source for the system. However, Professor Steinbuck's colleague wanted to use the energy source to power his own creations, robotic beings known as "RoidMules", and the former agreed to assist him. However, something went wrong, and the RoidMules escaped, leaving no trace of the two scientists. The only thing left from Professor Steinbuck's ruined laboratory was a strange belt-like device, which now sits in the Detrot Police Department's evidence locker, his disappearance considered a cold case.
