This comic was sort of born out of a joke I had in my head out of a question we've never really bothered to ask: How does Rockhoof earn a living? I mean, with Flash, Mistmane, Meadowbrook, and Stygy, it's pretty obvious; Somnambula probably makes money off her books and conferences and stuff; and Starswirl obviously makes money by just being Starswirl. But what about Rockhoof? Does a "Keeper of Tales" actually earn any sort of livable wage? I mean, maybe he'd earn something as a historian, but is that really what he is? So I sorta just laughed at the idea and said, "Hey, just make him a frickin' multi-millionaire." And obviously I was too lazy to draw actual rich-person stuff so I just went for piles and piles of gold.

You have NO idea how hard it was to come up with generic inspirational quotes for these ponies to say. Not to mention all the descriptions (with some easter eggs; there's a really subtle Gravity Falls reference in there) and splicing it all together into a magazine. Well one thing's for sure, I have no idea how to properly lay out a magazine, so I won't be looking for any "you're hired!" emails from any periodicals anytime soon.

Including at least one STEM pony (the doc) was pretty much mandatory for me. Because seriously, we need more pony (fans) in STEM.

And yes, that is a Fighting Is Magic joke.
