Doctor Violet is an equine robopsychologist who was assigned to look after and observe Cyberia Heart, who is part of a relatively new line of robots that are capable of analyzing and mimicking emotions.
Her character role and profession was mainly inspired by Susan Calvin in Isaac Asimov's robot series. But her demeanor is not as cold and cynical and is instead a lot more friendly, if a bit socially awkward. Her personality was influenced by characters like Shion Uzuki from Xenosaga and Emma Emmerich from Metal Gear Solid 2.
The doctor's full name is Shrinking Violet. As a filly, she was very shy and withdrawn, which made it difficult for her to make friends. But young Violet had a different experience when it came to robots, and she became fascinated with them. This eventually led her to pursue an education in the field of robotics. It turns out that her name was relevant to her career as well, because as a robopsychologist, she was a "shrink" for robots.
