Princess Celestia Day is drawing closer so I made another chalk drawing of her. For this drawing I once again experimented with mixing chalk powder and water to spray the mixture on a stencil I created before. That way most of the white parts of this chalk drawing (except the legs to the rear from the point of view of the viwer) were sprayed while all the rest was drawn the usual way with chalk and coal.
Spraying with a chalk and water mix is something I would like to explore more, but to do so I need to find a different material for the stencil than cardboard. I am looking for something similar to sponge rubber, but not as expensive and available in much larger pieces (one of the reasons cardboard doesn't work is that the mask can only be so big before it becomes too unwieldy to transport. So what I am looking for is something easy to roll up, resilient against water, easy to cut and thick enough so pieces can be cut from it and put back like peaces of a jigsaw puzzle and available in square meters dimensions. If I find such a material I may be able to come up with much more complex stencils for future spray chalk images.
I also uploaded several work in progress images to give you some idea of how the stencil worked as well as a color enhanced version of this image.
