I think it's safe to say that Elder Maxson is one of the biggest assholes in the game. Sure, his cause may be noble, but to openly give orders to execute one of his own all because he didn't know he was a synth? It's bullshit honestly. Bethesda should've left this little bit in when you had a choice to take over as elder through mutiny. (Yes, I know there's a mod for that, but I, at least, like to keep the story as vanilla as possible.)
