Tensions were high as Crosswind pressed close to Swiftwing, holding his hoof tightly. He held her close and gently kissed her head as time ticked away. The couple could feel each others' hearts beating faster and faster with every passing second, just waiting for the alarm to go off.
They could hardly wait, yet at the same time, there was fear hanging in the air.
Crosswind felt her throat tighten and she shut her eyes tight, trying not to cry. Her heart was beating faster than a hummingbird's wings at this point. The pale blue pegasus glanced at Swiftwing, who looked back at her with a smile so reassuring and heartwarming she forgot why she was afraid for a moment.
But the fear came back as the timer next to them startled her.
Five minutes had passed.
Swiftwing and Crosswind shared another glance of both pure terror and anxious anticipation. Swiftwing gulped, and Crosswind let out a shuddery breath. "Hey," Swiftwing said, laying a hoof on Crosswind's shoulder. "I love you. No matter what, that's not going to change."
The mare smiled at him, affection and admiration glittering in her rosy-red eyes. "No matter what."
Crosswind picked up the pregnancy test, barely able to hold it still as her hooves shook, and looked down at it.
"Swifty," Windy breathed. "We did it!"
