The Changelings are a very unique race among the already unique races that grace the land of Equestria. They feed off of feelings of adoration not unlike their succubus cousins. However, they can disguise themselves as almost literally anything that they see or imagine. After absorbing enough affection, they can unleash powerful Magicks whether it be those of the copied or Magicks that they themselves have learned in their travels. They are masters of infiltration and are always considered a threat to those around them. They are often hunted like insects when it's learned that they have entered a city. The authorities know that if there's one, there's at least 12 they don’t see scampering about. There are many a tale that when a city is successfully overrun with Changelings, they build a hive while feasting on those caught in an endless dream of their individual, ideal life.
There have a been quite a few unsuccessful invasion of the capital cities in both the Solar and Lunar Kingdoms, and this has only made the animosity towards Changelings understandably greater. The burning hatred came to a fever pitch during the wedding of Cadence and Twilight’s older brother, Shining Armor. Where an uncharacteristic invasion of Changelings tried to replace Cadence and feed off of the love of her subjects in the Crystal Kingdom. It would later become known that the race as a whole under the rule of Queen Chrysalis that her race is slowly starving out. The invasion was thwarted handily by both teams of Warriors showing the full strength of their cooperation.
Quite a few years had passed since the wedding when a lone Changeling exile would show his/her face in the Crystal Empire’s capital. Coincidentally, it was during a time when and expert Blue Mage, her Blacksmithing friend, and her Sage protege were paying a cordial visit. They were caught in the middle of the investigation and offered to join after clearing their names. After going their separate ways, the Blacksmith found Thorax accidentally on his own. Their budding friendship lead to his acceptance to the Empire after learning that his/her sincerity towards learning companionship is genuine, and while he/she prefers to disguise him/herself as a pony of his/her design name Crystal Hoof (in either a male or female form), he/she is welcomed in his/her exoskeleton form when he/she feels comfortable walking around without transformation.
Crystal’s ability as a mime stem from his/her natural abilities as a Challenging. He/She can copy the form and abilities of anyone he/she sees, assuming he has the Magickal Potency to use it. Changelings can imitate perfectly, but they also need their strength and control to mimic more complicated Magicks or fighting techniques. His/Her journey with the Warriors causes staggering growth in the Changeling. When the confrontation with his/her tribe draws to a head, his/her amassed (and shared) affection leads to a rather drastic change in his/her body, and changes the course of his/her race’s history.
Mime’s Cape and Sweater Dress — A mime must hide their intentions if possible. While not all disguised Changelings wear these clothes, a common sight for their disguise is loose clothing. They wear them to conceal whatever movement, channeling, or weapon they are utilizing as much as possible. Even after being accepted, Crystal Hoof still wears very long sweaters and a flowy cape to mask what he/she can
Crystal Hoof Disguise — Surprisingly, the disguise was made in great detail of what Thorax would like to look like if he/she was a pony. After finding him/herself in the Crystal Empire with no desire to return to the Hive, he/she observed all he/she could about the ponies around him/her. Eventually Thorax came to a final design after months of observation. Crystal Hoof’s race can be changed between Earth, Pegasus, and Unicorn to suit the situation, but sometimes forgets to do so when travelling with the Warriors when needed, leading to strange looks at best and Changeling paranoia at worst.
