[STORY]

After Apple Split and Saphiras met on the first day of the year, they had a long talk. He had the feeling that she was talking the truth about being a good changeling and wanted to help. He tried finding a hotel where she could stay, but she told him, she couldn't change her appearance so he had to think about something else since she can't walk around freely as a changeling. Before he had to leave from the Apple Barn again he met her in the orchard where she stayed and told her, she'd be coming with him and they talked once again for a long, long time…
"I can't use public traffic when you are with me, so we will have to walk the way, which could be a trip for about a week. I am sure I can convince the others to come with us.", he explained.
"I'm not sure…", she said a little nervous: "I can't change my form, would they really accept me..?".
"I am sure of it.", he said with a kind smile from cheek to cheek.
Saphiras felt her heart skip a beat, he was the first pony ever to smile at her and it made her feel… special.
"I'll call you Ame from now on.", he said suddenly.
"Why that?", she asked: "My name is Saphiras!"
He giggled and pointed at her cheek: "Because Saphiras is your princess name and you need a short nickname for your friends! You are not a changeling now, you are a pony, you are one of us.".
She blushed and repeated his words slowly to herself: "One of you…".

When the time had come, his family met her and they really accepted her as who and what she was, even though they tried to avoid her, but he kept walking by her side and taking care of her all the time. On their journey she saw so many things she had never seen before, the simple things made her eyes sparkle like the nightsky with its stars. He felt that she was something special and that she could really change something, it gave him a warm feeling in his chest when he saw her run around and be happy.

At his place, a smaller barn with just a tiny apple orchard she started training to change her form. She had really big problems with it and they often went to the old library together to find books about this magic, but hers worked different than usual unicorn magic. After about a month she finally was able to turn into a more feminine version of him, but it was hard for her to get used to other ponies, so she stayed.

After they had a lot of long evenings talking after he was done with working and him starting to teach her how to bake because she really wanted to help as well, she found out about Princess Cadence and her love magic. She decided to go to her one day and learn about the good in love and how she could use her changeling magic to do good in the world, but she wanted to find a transformation with which she wouldn't be thrown out of the castle, but she will tell everyone one day, but for now she wanted to stay where she felt at home and welcome.
Apple Split's family got used to her quickly and they loved her interest in baking and she especially loved Apple Split's Apple Fritters, she could eat it all day, as she used to say.

One day, Apple Bottom, Apple Split's sister went up to her and asked her how she could survive without "eating" other ponies' love.
"You see, I actually do, I live from the love you ponies give me.. I found that out when I got sick last month after we arrived here… I was running out of love, but refuse to steal it. That was when I noticed, that you give me the love, you care for me and you love me, I can feel it and It gives me a lot of strength. That's why I can't leave here, I need you and I love you, I wouldn't even think about leaving for a single second!", Ame explained happily and Apple Bottom was so amazed, she directly told Apple Split.
He blushed when his sister left the kitchen and turned around to tell him: "Oh and you need to explain her what Hearts and Hooved Day is, I'm sure she'll love it!".
He kept thinking about it for a while and on the 14th of February he asked Ame if she wanted to go off for the day, away from the family and get some rest after the work day. She accepted without even having to think for a single second. He had a little basket prepared and they went on the top of the hill next to the orchard. He lay down a blanket and invited her to some Apple Fritters and cider.
After they ate Ame stared at the sun that was slowly going down and he slowly started to talk again:
"You know, today is Hearts and Hooves Day, it's a day… where you do something with your special somepony or ask a pony out, you know..?".
She looked at him: "I don't quite understand… what do you mean by a special somepony..?".
He took a deep breath: "If you love someone and you are in a relationship with that pony, it's your special somepony.".
She smiled: "But I love all of you!".
His ear twitched nervous: "I mean… love MORE than anypony else.".
She giggled: "Like I love you?".
He blushed even more and she smiled: "You look like a tomato, what's wrong?".
Apple Split took her hoove between his and looked her into the eyes, he felt his heart beat so fast, he was sure that she could hear and feel it too. She blushed a little: "What are you doing… silly..".
He took another deep breath: "Would you… be my special somepony..?"

Silence

She smiled as bright as never before and he was sure his heart was melting when she threw herself in his hooves: "Of course, silly!". He hugged her tightly and smiled: "I love you, Ame…", he whispered, still shaking. "I love you too, Apple Split!", she looked at his face: "Why are you crying?". He laughed: "I'm just so happy…". She giggled and softly kissed his tears away before she kissed his Lips.
