I never uploaded this? Huh… dunno why… anyway, this guy was from an old story of mine (which I may be revisiting).
Basically, he's the 'spirit' mentioned in >>1282275

To give you a brief synopsis; Twi. tries to develop a spell that can be used to hop dimensions at will, when she accidentally stumbles upon an alternate plain created by a magician who became so powerful, he rejected his mortality and became a spirit. He is the master of the domain he created, seeded in the grizzly roots and dark shadows of Equestria's past. He makes deals and offers services to those willing to remain there eternally after death.
after many centuries, he is now known only by the symbol used to summon him:

From him Twilight learns about the nature of magic and rituals _{(Headcannon ahoy!)}, and about some of Equestria's darker histories.
