If nothing else, roleplaying is a good way of practicing real-life persuasive (and deceptive) skills. Though it's somehow hilarious when a player makes a heart-moving Diplomatic appeal (or a spine-chilling Intimidation)… and then rolls a critical failure. Justifying that can be a lot of fun for the DM.

Shadowbolt: The strongest fighters in the Everfree Forest.
Rainbow Dash: Except for me, of course.
Shadowbolt: …Yes, exactly. We have witnessed your potential.
Rainbow Dash: So you want me on your team. …Wait, except you probably haven’t seen much, since everyone else keeps TALKING through the monsters.
Shadowbolt: Indeed. So here’s our offer: Ditch them and join us.
